Free remedial courses: registration until 26 July

The 2019/2020 school year was a challenge for teachers, students and parents alike. The coming weeks will provide an opportunity to rest and recharge, but also to prepare well for the start of the school year in September for those in need and those who feel like they could benefit from it.

From 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth will provide thematic dossiers on the main subjects for the various classes for students in both, elementary and secondary education. They can be downloaded on www.schouldoheem.lu

Every student attending a public school also has the opportunity to enrol in remedial courses during the last two weeks of the holidays, from 31 August to 11 September. This offer also applies to students in private high schools applying the official curricula.

The registration process is described below.

In case of problems with registration, the helpline is available by phone at 8002-9090 until 26 July.

In elementary education

Remedial courses are offered to students who in 2019/2020 were attending a class in cycles 2, 3 or cycle 4.1. These courses cover German, French and mathematics.

At the end of the school year, teachers were given the opportunity to enrol students with significant deficiencies in these courses. Now and up to and including 26 July parents can take the initiative themselves by using the Ministry's form. Registration can only be done in one subject area, so as not to overburden the children.

For students in cycles 2.2 and 3.2, courses take place from 31 August to 4 September. For students in Cycles 2.1 and 3.1, they are held from 7 to 11 September. For students in cycle 4.1, classes are held over two weeks, from 31 August to 11 September.

Students in class 4.2 may enrol in refresher courses in secondary education by means of a form.

In secondary education

At the high school, classes are offered to students in grades 7e to 2e. Two types of courses are available:

  • Remedial courses are aimed at students who have to take an adjournment test (subjects: German, English, French, mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics);
  • Remedial courses are intended for students who wish to remedy their shortcomings (subjects: German, English, French, mathematics).

The student may register using this form in a maximum of two subjects.

Courses run from 31 August up to and including 11 September 2020 in three regional centres:

Central region: Lycée Michel Rodange

Southern region: Lycée Guillaume Kroll

Nothern region: Lycée classique de Diekirch

Registration is open until 26 July.

In public international schools

Students from public international schools should enquire about remedial courses and register directly with the secretariat of their school.
